Wise Up!

1. What stood out to you from this weekend's sermon? Take turns and go around the group sharing something that encouraged you, challenged you, convicted you, or confused you and explain why. Just listen to one another without interrupting.

This past weekend was our annual “Youth Emphasis Weekend.” The Youth Worship Team led us in singing praises to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At each service, several of the youth gave awesome testimonies of their experience at camp this year! Youth Pastor Jonathon’s message was a summary of this year’s “Youth Camp” in Lake Placid, Florida. Pastor J discussed the following Four Points:

1. YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
   Read John 8:12 and Matt.5:14-15; 1 John 1:5-7 using several different versions.
   What group of people are these verses referring to?
   In what way(s) can believers be a “light of the world?”


2. GOOD DEEDS
   Read Matt. 5:16; John 3:19-21; James 2:14-17; and Rom. 2:6-8 (using different translations).
   What do these verses command us regarding “good deeds?”
   Is there a consequence if we disobey? If so, what is it?


3. CARRYING THE CROSS
   Read Luke 9:23-25 from 2 or 3 different translations. Take turns sharing what these verses mean to you.


4. TESTIMONY
   Read the following Scriptures: Luke 21:13; John 5:32-32; John 19:35. Take turns (allowing each person in your group) the opportunity to share a brief testimony about the difference that God’s presence has made in their life.
