Haiti
Our mission teams regularly schedule mission trips to Haiti throughout the year, where we serve and support an orphanage and poor community. For more information contact Pastor Jay by email. To visit the official Haiti's Hope website, please go to haitishope.org.

The Broken Things
"Christ is building His kindgom with the broken things of earth" —LB Cowan
Once you get past the sleeping arrangements and this crazy notion of 22 people sharing one bathroom or, after driving in an open truck through dust and a road that time seemed to have forgotten, the initial shock of seeing barely-clothed barefooted children chasing that vehicle with outstretched hands you begin to realize that God is about to do something in you…that this mission trip you're on is not merely meant to impact their lives but that yours will be forever changed as well. That a sort of "spiritual re-adjustment" has just taken place without you even realizing it.
And as you enter this village and see the broken homes, broken lives and broken dreams of these beautiful people, you realize that maybe, just maybe, Christ is building His kingdom within you with the very broken things of earth you now see before you. Why? Precisely because you were there. Just think: you could've been anywhere…having worked so hard to finally see your spring break in the eyes of a people everyone seems to have forgotten or abandoned as hopeless. But you were there to bring that hope that is found only in Jesus Christ. You were there to give the things inside of you that might have been asleep.
And as the children began to sing: mambo sawa sawa, that Swahili song that means "things are getting better, the Lord is on the throne, things are getting better" perhaps you didn't realize that's what the children felt in their hearts. For one day, at least, things seemed to be getting better and you were the cause of it. You brought material things that they needed…but most importantly you brought your presence, your heart, your tears into a place not many people seem to care about. And because of that they were able to sing and dance with you…feeling that things were indeed better.
Yet the irony of it all is what we all discovered at the end: that we too, formed part of the broken things of this earth that God was using. Each one of us, in our own way, came with parts of us that were broken and needed mending. That this whole trip we kept thinking was for them was just as much for us. That we went to serve others while God served us through them. That what we saw in their eyes was a reflection of our own hopes and dreams; what our destiny might look like if we allow Him to build His kingdom through our own brokenness.
2010 Cistern Repair
Repairing the cistern was the main purpose of this trip to Haiti. MEBI-Bombardopolis(Creve) has a cistern that is 12ft deep and 24ft in diameter. It can hold an est 55,000 gallons of water when it is completely filled with rain water. Over the past five years it has begun leaking. Haiti's Hope's president Billy Sauls has made serveral repais that only lasted a few years. He decided to make this a priority because water is a precious resourse.
Last year Haiti's Hope's focus on fundraising was directed at repairing this cistern. The plan to purchase an industrial food grade PVC liner from a company in Texas, ship to Haiti, and install took much effort and finances, but will be a solution that will help to bring water security for many years. The health and welfare of the orphanage depends on this water supply as well as the Fruit Tree Nursery project and the precious plants in the gardens of Madame Harris.
Bruce Dunbar and Gary Adenieck travelled with me to Haiti with their main purpose to install the liner. Through much thought and prayer we hatched a plan to roll the massive liner and feed it through the small opening. These are the pictures of this. I will send another email shorty showing the hard work that these two men put forth to bring water security to our brothers and sisters in this part of Haiti.

Haiti's Missions Update May 2007
Haiti's Mission Trip Update
2.13.07 - 2.22.07
We returned safely Thursday night. It was a great trip! Over 350 youth and pastors were in attendance at the conference. Their day started at 5:00 AM with exercise and didn't end until midnight. During which we had worship services, sermons, lectures, discussion time, games, and a movie.
The "EvangeCube" was presented and instruction was given by our team on how to present the gospel using the "EvangeCube." The Book of Hope was distributed to everyone with instructions for its use to be taken back to the local churches and used for Sunday school and Bible study. Claudette presented a lecture on HIV/AIDS and had a very positive question and answer session afterward.
At least 6 people were baptized, a 91 year old woman who the Harris's have ministered to for many years accepted Christ. Many more people accepted Christ for the first time or rededicated their lives to Christ! The shoe boxes were successfully delivered to all the children in the orphanage. The generator and wiring provided by the Angel Tree Ministry was installed. The vitamins provided by MannaRelief were distributed and a program was set-up for the children to receive vitamins daily.
Dr. Helene and Claudette evaluated approximately 45 children in the clinic for any health concerns; they assisted by completing forms for sponsorship and treated those who were ill. The team was able to spend 1-on-1 time with the children in the orphanage doing arts, crafts and showing movies. We also had time to walk through the village and other nearby villages to meet, talk and pray with many people. We also met with Pastors in Mole St. Nicolas to discuss the construction of a church and a radio station which are ongoing Haiti's Hope projects.
On behalf of the Haiti Team and all those in Haiti, I would like to thank you and the CCS congregation for their prayers and support. They all contributed in making the youth conference and the entire mission trip a wonderful success!
We recognize that the Haitian people need so much more help in so many areas. The missionaries we met with opened our eyes again to the desperate need for real change through Jesus Christ. We are seeking God's guidance on where and how to best glorify Him. Please pray that we use the resources to the utmost benefit.

Haiti's Hope Update
To whom it may concern,
I wanted to thank you for your help in getting three violins to a music school in rural Haiti. I started the school two years ago with one guitar and 25 young men in the community. Now we have several guitars and three new violins from you all and over 100 students.
Haiti's Hope partnered with Calvary Chapel Sawgrass to ask their congregation to donate musical instruments. One day while at the mission's kiosk I met a soft spoken, kind woman named Jill(I think a single mother). She spoke of the possibility of asking some retailers or manufactures for their help in our cause. Several Sundays later she said she was going to get three new violins a great discount. She must have contacted you all. I have not seen her since, but the violins were shipped by you all to the church two weeks before we went to Haiti.
Thanks again,
Doug Allen
