Calvary Chapel Sawgrass began as a small Bible-study meeting at Pastor Gary's house in 1992. As the
Bible-study began to grow into a young church, we felt a need to belong to a larger part of the body of Christ. In 1993, we
formally affiliated with over 700 other Calvary Chapel Churches worldwide.
As a young and expanding church we desire above all else to honor the Lord in everything we do and tell of the good news of
Jesus Christ everywhere we go. Our philosophy for ministry in the local church is taken from Ephesians 4:11-16. There we are
told that the function of the local church is to "prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be
built up..." Acts 2:42-47 says the early Christians "devoted themselves continuously to the apostles teaching and to the
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...and the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
In our worship services, we teach the Bible both topically and in a verse-by-verse fashion in order to cover all that the
Scriptures emphasize for our lives. As we devote ourselves to the teaching of the Bible, loving fellowship, breaking bread and
prayer, we have found that Christians and their families grow into balanced, healthy, fruitful maturity, sharing their faith
naturally and happily, and the Lord adds to the church regularly those who are being saved.
